Legacy

My journey has given me the opportunity to meet with, work alongside, and most importantly, LEARN from these elite men, the experts. I, AST, dedicate our work to continue the legacy of all the others that have led us to our purpose.

"To make a positive impact on the culture of youth sports."

-Jim Madrid- AST Founder

Dedication

Lou Tice

A message from Jim Madrid, AST Founder

Lou was my high-school teacher and coach. In 1968 he introduced me and my classmates to a new way of thinking. The 'right' way of thinking. Over the years his philosophy of anything is possible launched him as a leading authority on human behavior. It will be 50 years ago in 2021 that Lou started a company called The Pacific Institute. AST was created to keep his legacy alive. He introduced me to "think bigger than yourself, Jim." I grew up in a tough neighborhood in Seattle.  My passion and purpose, today is to use my talents, skills, and energy to make a positive difference in the world and to produce positive results for someone or something other than myself.

Rest in Peace, my friend. The world misses you!

"Your present thoughts determine your future."

- Lou Tice - 1935-2012

Dedication

Dr. Nathaniel Branden, Ph.D.

A message from Jim Madrid, AST Founder

I had the great honor to be mentored by Nathaniel. He is was known as the Father of Self-Esteem. With over 20 books written on the subject of self-esteem, he changed anyone and everyone that ever read any of his books or attended any of his lectures.  We met in 1999 and he made a major impact on my life both personally and professionally. Thank you Nathaniel for the impact you made on me and all that have participated in our program you helped design around self-esteem.

"No one is coming!"

Sigi Schmid

A message from Jim Madrid, AST Founder

For four years I had the honor to work alongside Sigi. He would ask me for advice but what I was doing was learning from him. This man was the best coach in MLS. What I learned from him was all about team chemistry, his middle name is 'teamwork'. He created a winning culture. His leadership style is a style that leaders of Fortune 500 companies could have benefited from. He was the best.

"Winning is a 'given' it's all about what you are willing to surrender, to win!"

- Sigi Schmid- 1953 -2018
